COVINGTON — Sophomore Cody Quinn delivered the
knockout blow as Kentwood won the "Cov-town Throwdown" trophy Wednesday
night.
The Conquerors beat Kentlake, 33-28, in a South Puget Sound League 4A
wrestling showdown at Kentwood. The annual dual meet between the Conks and
Falcons is dubbed the "Cov-town Throwdown."
With Kentwood clinging to a 30-28 going into the final match at 130
pounds, Quinn played it smart and handled Kentlake's Austin Carrillo, 4-0,
to help the Conquerors seal the win. Quinn finished fifth at state at 112
pounds last year.
Aaron Snyder of Kentlake beat Lance Larsen of Kentwood, 8-4, in a
thrilling match at 160 pounds. Kentlake's Jared Walsh moved up a weight
class to 275, but couldn't get past the bigger Justin Shewey, who won a
close one, 9-6. |
